What programming language is used to make console or arcade games like those of Playstation or Nintendo?

We’re about to make a project of designing a new game, a Card game actually, that works like those you see on arcade places…
Just want to know what’s the better programming language we could use for doing such…or if you come up with the best, we’ll gladly appreciate it. =3
