What’s the scoring system for RCM piano grade 10?
How are the marks distributed? What is each section out of?
This is the current scoring system which is effect for only 1 more exam session which is August 2008. As of January 2009 RCM has a new scoring system for all grades.
List A 15
List B 15
List C 10
List D 10
List E 10
You must score a minimum 42/60 to pass the Repertoire Requirements
Technique (you must score 70% total in combined technical requirements or you fail the exam no matter what you score on the other parts.)
Studies 5 and 5 (two studies)
Scales 10 (minimum 7 out of 10 to pass)
Ear 10 (2, 2, 3 and 3 – Intervals, Chords, Cadences and Playback) minimum 7 out of 10 to pass
Sight 10 (7 for playing and 3 for rhythmic sight) again, 7 out of 10 to pass
Total of 100
New Scoring System in effect January 2009
Repertoire – 56, minimum 39 required for a pass
List A 12
List B 14
List C, D, E 10 Each
Technique – 24, minimum of 17 to pass… if you do not achieve 17 you fail the exam no matter what you score on everything else.
Studies – 6 each for a total of 12
Technical Test – 12
Ear same as before for 10, minimum of 7 to pass
Sight Reading same as before with a minimum of 7 to pass.
To go on to ARCT Performance must score 75 percent and 70 Percent for ARCT Pedagogy. No exeptions.
